Schematic Design
2006 | PARAMARIBO, SURINAME
The design of the house borrows architectural language from the traditional Dutch colonial architecture present in Suriname. The style of housing is suitable for the tropical climat and creates a durable structure from the materials available locally. Extended roofs and covered terraces, together with diagonal ventilation create a passive cooling on the interior of the house. New technologies were added to the house to combine respect for its surroundings and history with also adding the modern conveniences for the home.
